The Kiwanis Club of Zion-Benton proudly serves the children of the communities of Beach Park, Winthrop Harbor and Zion, Illinois.
Kiwanis empowers communities to improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children.
“Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. The name ‘Kiwanis’ means ‘we trade’ or ‘we share our talents.’ It was coined from an American Indian expression, Nunc Kee-wanis.”
The Kiwanis International Pledge demonstrates the guiding principles of Kiwanians around the globe.
The Kiwanis International Pledge:
“I pledge to uphold the Objects of Kiwanis International, to provide service to my community, to extend the opportunity of membership to all persons of goodwill, dedicate myself to serving the children of the world.”
The Kiwanis Club of Zion-Benton is part of Division 7 of the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis International. As members of this District, we have a special flag salute that is recited at each meeting to further clarify our purpose:
“As our Country’s flag signifies purity, valor and justice; May we as true Kiwanians exemplify these virtues as we serve the children of the world!”
Kiwanians are volunteers changing the world through service to children and communities. Kiwanis members help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged, and care for the sick. They develop youth as leaders, build playgrounds, raise funds for pediatric research, and much more. No problem is too big or too small. Why? Because working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child a chance to learn, experience, dream, and succeed, great things happen!
We are a 501c-4 organization. Contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law.
